The Wishbrook Foundation

Aspiring to a world where we all can thrive

About the Wishbrook Foundation

The Wishbrook Foundation was established in 2007 as a small family foundation. In 2025, following a full endowment by its original benefactors, it was reimagined to provide targeted grants to nonprofits aligned with our mission. We make both program and operating grants and do not have any geographical restrictions on our grants. Nonprofit organizations that qualify for public charity status under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code are eligible for grants from the Wishbrook Foundation.

Mission

The Wishbrook Foundation is a private family foundation that provides grants to nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations that align with our vision of a thriving world.

Vision

We want to live in a world that is thriving. A mix of good fortune and hard work has given our family access to good education, healthcare, and day-to-day comforts. We believe everyone deserves an opportunity to pursue a good life. We also believe that humans will only thrive if our planet is also healthy and thriving.

Our Priorities

Three Key Areas

To move toward our vision of a thriving world, we support initiatives in the following areas:

One

Supporting Our Rights to Well-Being and Security

One of the greatest inequities in American society is access and choice surrounding health and other facets of well-being. Marginalized populations—including neurodivergent, immigrant, chronically ill, and low-income individuals—face greater barriers to accessing the care and information they need to support their health and to live in a safe environment. Reproductive choices are also limited by geography and politics. We support efforts to address these discrepancies in access.

Two

Progress through
Education, Advocacy,
and Knowledge Creation

Human growth and change comes through both formal education and informal learning about our world. Online resources have multiplied our opportunities to spread knowledge and understanding, but researched, credible, evidence-based content is under threat and under-funded. We support nonprofit journalism, educational resources, and research, as well as efforts to expand literacy.

Three

The Natural World

We are concerned about climate change and the impact of human activity on our environment. Animals, plants, and ecosystems silently bear the consequences of human action. We support innovative efforts to undo existing damage and find solutions for a more equitable future.

Frequently Asked Questions

When can I apply?

The Foundation evaluates grant applications on a rolling basis throughout the year. Currently there are no deadlines for grants based on type as is done at other foundations. Applications received between October 1 and December 31 may be considered for the following calendar year.

How do I apply?

After reviewing our funding priorities and eligibility requirements, submit an inquiry form. We will send you an acknowledgement that your inquiry was received. If we conclude that there is no prospect of funding, we will notify you promptly. If the Foundation decides that your project might qualify for a grant, we will contact you to discuss next steps and what further information is required.

Are there geographic preferences for funding?

No, we are open to funding nonprofits anywhere in the US.

Does the Wishbrook Foundation fund individuals or businesses?

No, we only fund valid 501(c)(3) organizations. We will also vet your organization's nonprofit standing through an external service.

When and how will I know if my project was funded?

If we conclude that there is no prospect of funding, we will notify you promptly. If the Foundation decides that your project might qualify for a grant, we will contact you to discuss next steps and what further information is required. Because we are a small organization with no paid staff, this may take up to a month.

What are the top mistakes organizations make with their applications?

Applications that are incomplete, unclear, or do not follow instructions are rarely funded. Proposals that do not define an area of impact are unlikely to be funded. Requests for materials or a project that seem like more of a “want” than a “need” are unlikely to be funded.
